SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
We weave naturally
We weave natural raw materials, linen, cotton and wool due to their durability and great weaving characteristics.
Since all our yarns are transported from Europe and their transport only takes a few days, there is no need for mold protectors or other chemicals on our yarns either.
Instead of virgin cotton we also use recycled cotton yarn made from post consumer denim textiles gathered in Finland.
KIERTO - recycled yarn
We want be among the first ones in exploring different circular economy solutions in our production.
In 2022 we tested to combine Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto’s (a Finnish waste management company) recycled yarn with our linen yarn and made custom-made OmaDesign kitchen towels for Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto.
The yarn worked well for weaving purposes and now we proudly present KIERTO (in English cycle) textiles, where Jokipiin Pellava’s linen warp is combined with Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto’s recycled yarn made from post consumer denim textiles gathered in Finland.
The final product consists of 50% linen, 40% recycled denim fibre and 10% recycled polyester.
We can also use the recycled yarn for weaving custom-made OmaDesign products with your company’s or organisation’s own pattern.
